What documents do I need for a .com.bd domain?
The NID of your contact person (both sides) and one business document: a trade license, VAT certificate, or incorporation certificate. If the domain name differs from your business name, add a forwarding letter on company letterhead. If the name on your NID has legally changed, include the name-change papers.
Can I register a .com.bd domain without a trade license?
You don’t need a trade license in particular, but you do need proof of a registered business. A VAT certificate or an incorporation certificate works too. [CONFIRM TIN certificate and approval letters] If you’re an individual or freelancer with no business registration, choose a .bd domain instead, which needs only an NID.
How much does a .com.bd domain cost?
৳700 for the first year and ৳1,020 per year to renew, plus VAT. That’s BTCL’s current rate for standard names with three or more letters, and it includes a 36% limited-time discount (the regular rate is ৳1,100 and ৳1,600). Two-letter and premium names cost more. What if my desired .com.bd name differs from my company name?
You must submit a forwarding or application letter on company letterhead explaining the relationship between the names.
What’s the difference between .com.bd and .bd?
.com.bd is the business extension and requires business documents. .bd is shorter, costs ৳1,280 to register and ৳1,600 to renew at BTCL’s current discounted rate (VAT extra), and is open to individuals with an NID as well as organizations. Since January 19, 2026, .bd has been open to the public.
Can I transfer a .com.bd domain or change its owner?
Yes. A change of ownership requires an agreement between both parties and verification documents from each, and BTCL charges ৳2,500 plus VAT for it.
